James "Tim" Lynch Obituary
James "Tim" Lynch

AGE: 69 • Asbury Park

James "Tim" Lynch passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at his home in Asbury Park, NJ. Tim was born on May 15, 1948, to the late James R. and Dolores A. Lynch, and raised in Asbury Park. He was a graduate of Asbury Park HS where he played football and spent a number of summers working as a lifeguard on the Asbury Park Beaches. He enlisted in the US Navy in the fall of 1967. During his 4 years of service, he toured both the Mediterranean and the Gulf of Tonkin. For his service, he received The National Service Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

After his discharge from the Navy, he attended Brookdale Community College before joining New Jersey Bell /AT&T as a lineman. In 1972, after marrying his first wife Susan E. (Conklin) Lynch, they moved to San Diego, California, where he was employed at Pacific Bell. He returned to New Jersey in the early 90s where he met his second wife, Susan Alexander, and worked at Alexander Moving and Storage in Oakhurst, NJ. He eventually moved back to Asbury Park where he helped care for his mother.

He loved the beach, riding his bike down the boardwalk, 60s music, his cat, and was a diehard fan of Blue Bishops football and the Oakland Raiders. He will be remembered for his warm smile and crazy sense of humor.

He leaves behind his brother Lawrence R. Lynch and wife Joan, of Navesink; two sisters, Ann Kathy Doherty of Palm Coast, Florida and Anita M. Zitzmann and husband Steve, of Toms River; two nephews, three nieces, four grand-nephews and one grand-niece; and his dear companion and loving friend, Marion Reynolds.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Mercy Center in Asbury Park and the VNA. A memorial service will be held at Buckley Funeral home in Asbury Park on Saturday, November 25th at 11am. For condolences please visit www.BuckleyFuneralHome.net
