AGE: 61 • Pine Beach

Janis K. Tice, age 61, passed away peacefully on March 5th with her beloved family by her side.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lester R. Tice, and her father, Thomas A. Kelly.

Janis was born in Woodbury, NJ, and grew up in Paulsboro, NJ. She moved to Toms River and later to Pine Beach. Janis graduated from Paulsboro High School in 1974, where she was an outstanding student athlete. In recognition of her outstanding ability, she was inducted in the PHS sports hall of fame in 2011.

Janis graduated from Glassboro State College in 1978, where she met her husband, Lester Tice. During her college years she was an outstanding lacrosse and basketball player. She was the recipient of many athletic awards. Upon graduation, she dedicated 30 years of teaching health and physical education at Toms River High School South, where she developed the girls' lacrosse program and served as varsity coach for many years.

Janis was a devoted and loving mother and is survived by: Daughters Kelly Wright (Rob) and Katie Tice; Mother Rita M. Kelly; Brother Michael T. Kelly (Barbara); Companion Eric Landmesser; Brother-in-law Alan Tice (Lisa); Sister-in-law Candace Tomasik (Richard); Sister-in-law Linda Benko (Frank); many nephews and nieces; and many friends and colleagues.

Janis enjoyed spending time with her family at Lake Kolelemook, New Hampshire, and at the Jersey Shore. She and her mother often traveled with her daughter Kelly and the Shenandoah University Conservatory Choir on their many trips to Europe.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Toms River and served as a deacon.

Janis was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends that will hold her in their hearts forever.

The viewing will be held Wednesday, March 8, from 4pm to 8pm at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River, NJ 08753. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11am at The Presbyterian Church of Toms River, 1070 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Condolences may be made by visiting www.andersonandcampbell.com.
