AGE: 94 • Lakewood, NJ

Jean A. Stirba (nee McClenahan), 94, passed away on April 20, 2017, at Harrogate Assisted Living in Lakewood, NJ. Born in 1922 in Brooklyn, NY, Mrs. Stirba resided in Queens County Long Island, NY. She graduated from the Garden Country Day School, Jackson Heights, Queens, and attended Maryland College for Women in Lutherville, MD. She spent many summers in Toms River Before permanently moving to Toms River in 1967.

Between 1947 and 1962, Mrs. Stirba was employed in the airline industry. While with Eastern Airlines, she served as the Coordinator for Executive Reservations, in Public Relations, as Outside Executive Sales Representative and also the Executive Secretary to the Vice President of Sales. Then with Northeast Airlines, she served as Outside Sales Representative. Between 1968 and 1970, she was the Office Manager for Travel Research International, a market research firm specializing in all aspects of travel, located in the Chrysler Building, NYC, NY. In 1973, Mrs. Stirba became a NJ licensed real estate broker and opened American Heritage Realty in Toms River. She served on the Board of Directors of the Ocean County Board of Realtors for many years. She was voted Ocean County Realtor of the Year in 1986, retiring in 1988. Mrs. Stirba belonged to the Presbyterian Church of Toms River and the Ocean County Historical Society.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Michael J. Stirba; her father J. Stanley McClenahan; her mother Anna J. McClenahan French; and her brother James. S. McClenahan Jr. She is survived by two stepdaughters: Dian Guyer of Virginia Beach, VA, and Bonnie J. Radamski of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are private and under the direction of the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home of Toms River, NJ. Donations may be made to the in memory of Mrs. Stirba.
