Salem, OR. - March 21, 1928 - March 14, 2018

Jean De Filippo passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members, on March 14, 2018, at the Southern Hill Assisted Living community in Salem, Or.

Jean was born in Brooklyn, NY, on March 21, 1928, the daughter of the late

Robert J. and Kathryn Miera (Orr) Yake. Jean graduated St. Joseph Catholic High School, Paterson, NJ. Jean worked at United Jersey Bank, now Bank of America, Hazlet, NJ, as a branch manager for 25 years before retiring in 1985.

Jean is predeceased by her husband Norman E. De Filippo, son Norman R. De Filippo, and brothers Robert and Richard Yake. Jean is survived by two daughters, Nancy De Filippo of East Hampstead, NH and Susan J. Pierce and son-in-law John J. Pierce, of Salem, OR, two sisters, Kathryn (Yake) Slavin, of Bogota, NJ, and Barbara Yake of Harrisburg, Pa, and several nieces and nephews. Jean leaves behind 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Jean was a parishioner of Queen of Peace Parish in Salem, OR. She enjoyed gardening, playing bridge and cooking gourmet meals. Jean was also a Girl Scout leader in the Freehold, NJ council when her daughters were young. Her favorite pastime was taking the troop on camping trips. In her early years of retirement Jean and her husband Norman enjoyed traveling the United States in a small RV.

Arrangements are with Virgil T Golden Funeral Service, Salem, OR. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Salem, OR on March 21, 2018, at 10:30 A. M. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Keyport, NJ on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at 10:00 A. M.
