AGE: 83 • East Brunswick

Jean E. Angelinedied Sunday, September 17, 2017, at the Gardens at Monroe in New Jersey. She was 83.

Born in Orange, NJ, Jean grew up in East Orange, NJ with her parents, Elizabeth and Elite Spiotta, and her brother Thomas Spiotta, now deceased; and her sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Spiotta Russo. She graduated from Clifford Scott HS in East Orange, NJ, where she played field hockey and basketball. She attended William Patterson College where she obtained a teaching degree and played basketball. After college, she taught school in West Palm Beach, FL. Jean raised her family and resided in East Brunswick for 55 years. She was an active mother who was closely involved with their children's school work and activities.

Jean's teaching career spanned 40 years and included positions with Head Start in Piscataway, NJ; and Special Education teaching positions at the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical School East Brunswick Campus, as well as with the Perth Amboy and Spotswood School Systems. In 1994, Gov. Christine Todd Whitman presented Jean with the Governor's Award for Outstanding Teaching.

Jean thoroughly enjoyed the Jersey Shore every Summer of her life, especially Cape May, and she always loved "a good beach day."

Jean was an animal lover and had numerous cats and dogs as loving companions throughout her life. Her black lab, Maggie, will miss her.

Jean was a long-time Communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church in Old Bridge.

Surviving are her daughter, Katheryn Angeline, and her sons, Victor Angeline III and his wife Janet, and Steven Angeline and his wife, Janet, all of East Brunswick; and grandchildren, Samantha Angeline, Jillian Angeline, and Victor Angeline IV.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 21, 2017, 9:30 AM, in The BRUNSWICK MEMORIAL HOME, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:15 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, Old Bridge. Interment services will be announced at the funeral.
