Jeanne Dorian Obituary
Jeanne Dorian

Lakewood - Jeanne Dorian, a resident of Lakewood, New Jersey, passed away from respiratory failure on December 21, 2017, while visiting her daughter Evelyn in Manhattan Beach, CA.

Jeanne was born in Holyoke, MA, on August 1, 1929, to Edgar and Evelyn Bouchard. She was raised in Holyoke, and graduated from the College of New Rochelle. Jeanne taught at Port Richmond High School, on Staten Island, for 25 years, retiring in 1996.

Jeanne was diagnosed with small-cell lung cancer in 1993. While this form of cancer is almost always fatal within a period of months, Jeanne survived for almost 25 years, helped by both the team at Sloan Kettering and her own incredible will to live life as well as possible. She became an inveterate bridge player, playing several times a week with a variety of groups. She loved to travel, and took cruises to Alaska, and several parts of Europe. Jeanne also visited her children and their families for almost every graduation, birthday or major holiday, and made the most of the time she was given. Her outgoing spirit meant she had friends wherever she went.

Jeanne is predeceased by her husband Jack, whom she married in 1953, and who passed away in November 2001. They had three children: Robert (Marcia) of Lewiston, NY; Evelyn (John) of Manhattan Beach, CA; and John (Kathy) of Hudson, OH. She is survived by her brother, Dr. Donald Bouchard (Helen) of Sacramento, CA. Jeanne had eight grandchildren: Curtis (Nikki), Erik (Crystal), Margaret, Emily, Thomas, Christopher, Andrew and Steven, as well as two step-grandchildren: Thomas and Daniel Preziose.

A memorial of life will be held on December 29, 2017 at the Silverton Funeral Home in Toms River, NJ, from 4-7pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated on December 30 at 9:00am at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, in Brick, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital.
