Jerry A. Patruno, 98, of Toms River passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.

Visiting will be at Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial, 9 Smull Ave., Caldwell, on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., immediately followed by a service at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Entombment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery and Mausoleum, East Hanover.

Born and raised in Orange, N.J., Mr. Patruno was a resident of Toms River for over 23 years.

He was the owner of Jerry's Grocery Store on the corner of Hickory and Pierson Streets in Orange for many years, and a butcher at the Shop-Rite in West Caldwell before retiring.

A veteran, Mr. Patruno served in the Army during World War II, where he was stationed in Germany, France and Belgium.

Mr. Patruno was a member of the Sons of Italy and the Holiday City Clubhouse.

The beloved husband of 72 years to Philomena (nee Infante); he was the loving father of Paul Patruno and his wife, Linda, and the late Leonard F. Patruno; dear brother of Frances Petrick and the late Sarah Patruno, Mary Palkovic, Dolly Genovese and Michael Patruno; cherished grandfather of Pamela Tossounian and her husband, Anto and Gregg Patruno and his wife, Stephanie, and adored great-grandfather of Sophia, Ani, Lucine', Garine', Jeremy and Madelyn. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
