AGE: 81 • Manasquan

Joan Claire White, age 81, of Manasquan, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 5, 2017. Joan was born in Newark, NJ on June 12th, 1935 to Walter and Frances Sanders. Raised in the Vailsburg section of Newark, Joan was a graduate of St. Vincent's Academy, Newark. She graduated from St. Michael's Hospital School of Nursing in Newark, where she worked as a registered nurse. She married her husband, Harold Corley White in 1958. In 1965, they relocated to Brick, NJ where they raised their family. A devout Catholic, Joan was an active parishioner for many years at St. Dominic's RC Church in Brick. Joan was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, The Hon. Harold Corley White, J.S.C., in 1993, and by her brother John (Jack) Sanders. Joan is survived by her devoted children and their spouses: Mary (Jimmy) Kelly; Suzanne (Robert) Ballou; Nancy (Lionel) Foz; Eileen (Craig) Boyle; Michael (Tricia) White; Christopher (Eileen) White; Brian (Renee) White; and Deirdre (John) Ducey. Joan leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Caroline, Kevin, Daniel, Christine, Casey, Alexandra, Kelsey, Declan, Megan, Grace, Claire, Emily, Thomas, Reagan, Sean, Stephen, and Jack. Joan is also survived by her sisters, Eileen Kimmins Van Ness and Denise Hosfield and her sister-in-law, Joan Hughes. Joan was a passionate dog lover and leaves behind her beloved golden retriever, Whizzy.

A Memorial Mass will be offered at 10:00am on Saturday, May 13th, 2017 at St. Dominic's RC Church, 250 Old Squan Road Brick, NJ 08724. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joan's memory to the Friends of Animals charity (Friendsofanimals.org).
