Joanna C. Restiano, age 72 of Brick, NJ passed away on May 9th, 2017 peacefully at home, surrounded by family. Joanna was born in Weehawken, NJ to Jiusto and Josephine Mauro on July 19th, 1944. Starting her family in Lyndhurst, Joanna relocated to Brick, NJ in 1973. Joanna received her bachelor's degree from Jersey City State University, she then continued her education attaining her master's degree in Education from Georgian Court University. Until her retirement in 2005, Joanna worked for the Brick Twp. Board of Education as a teacher for Lake Riviera Middle School. She impacted many lives during her career as a teacher and was awarded The Teacher of the Year in 1990. Joanna was a parishioner of the Church of the Visitation in Brick. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Joanna was a loving daughter, devoted to showing her parents care and appreciation. She would do the impossible to make sure they both felt her compassion and love their entire lives. She was a sister who enjoyed her brother's company so much, sharing music and making memories throughout their lives. She was a patient and thoughtful teacher who saw each of her students through a mother's eye always finding the best in every one of them. If you were lucky enough to have Joanna as a friend, you had her support and unconditional love always. Her friends filled her spirit with joy and her life with love. The most beloved part of Joanna's life was her children and later on her grandchildren. She was a proud loving mother who cherished her children and taught them by example. She loved completely and unconditionally. The memories of the sound of her laughter will always remind us to enjoy life and live it well.

Joanna is survived by her loving daughter Beth Anne Gibbs and her husband Dave and by her loving son David Restiano and his wife Heather all of Brick, NJ.
