John "Jack" A. Fields, III

AGE: 81 • Jackson Twp.

John "Jack" A. Fields, III, 81, of Jackson Twp., NJ, and Groveland, FL, died peacefully on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, after a long illness. Jack was born in 1932 in Brooklyn, NY, and was raised there. He was the son of John A. Fields and Alice (Tomey) Fields. He graduated from James Madison High School and attended Brooklyn College. Jack served four years in the United States Navy during the Korean War and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Jack was an avid football coach and fan. Among his proudest accomplishments was founding the Brooklyn Mariners football team which continues a successful run almost 60 years later. Jack spent 30 years working for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company where he retired as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Jack participated in many organizations and activities including being a life-long member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and the VFW.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan A. (Heaney) Fields also of Brooklyn, NY; his sons & daughter-in-law, John A. IV & Diana Fields and Dr. Joseph A. Fields; his daughters & sons-in-law, Joanne M. & Michael Penso and Jill A. & Thomas Vicedomini; his 8 grandchildren, John D. Fields, Esq., Matthew Penso, Alyssa Vicedomini, Samantha Fields, Hayley Vicedomini, Thomas Vicedomini, Joseph Fields and Mallory Vicedomini; and by his sister, Leila Zagardo.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Thursday, November 7, 2013, from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM at The George S. Hassler Funeral Home, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A funeral gathering will be offered on Friday, November 8, 2013, at 8:00 AM at the funeral home. His Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:15 AM at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. Interment with military honors will follow in The Brig. Gen. William C.
