John "Jack" Bergenstock

Lakewood - John "Jack" Bergenstock, 95, passed peacefully in his home on January 29, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born in Allentown, PA on September 5, 1922. He resided in Linden, Clark, and Point Pleasant before moving to Four Seasons in Lakewood. He was a Linden High School graduate and as a youth he was active in the Boy Scouts of America and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

Jack loved the Jersey Shore, where he was able to enjoy his favorite pastime of boating and fishing. Prior to moving to Point Pleasant, he spent his summers with his family and friends at their beach house in Manasquan.

He was employed by the Public Service Coordinated Transport in Newark for 22 years as a Public Liability Claims adjuster and an Assistant Division Claim Agent. In 1962, he left public service to pursue a career as an Independent Educational Sales Representative. For over 40 years, he represented a number of publishing companies of textbooks and supplementary educational materials in NJ and NY State. He was a former member of the NJ Educational Sales Club and the NY State Educational Sales Association.

Jack was a former member of Evangel Church in Scotch Plains and attended Life Chapel in Point Pleasant.

Jack is predeceased by his parents, John and Ethel Bergenstock and his beloved sister, Audrey Judd. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Ann Nielsen Bergenstock; his son Scott and his wife, Lori Bergenstock, his daughter Beth and her husband Al Reynolds; his six grandchildren Dustin, Kerri, Lauren, Kelly, P.G., and Tim and his five great grandchildren Sean, Tiffani, Laurel, Avin, and Hazel. He is also survived by his Goddaughter Susan Catelli, his sister-in-law Beverly Zager, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and lifelong friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at Life Chapel Church at 3118 Bridge Avenue, Point Pleasant, NJ 08742 on Saturday, February 3rd at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Life Chapel Church or Samaritan's Purse. Laurelton Memorial Funeral Home, Brick, NJ is handling the arrangements.
