John "Jack" DuBois Appleby, Sr. Age: 85 * Seaside Park

"The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him." Proverbs 20:7 Our beloved father was born on October 9, 1931 in South River, NJ to J. Randolph Appleby, Jr. and Bess Hodapp Appleby. On August 31st, our father died free of pain and suffering in his home.

Our mother, Carol-Anne Molnar Appleby, was adored by our father. They married in 1958. Both were born and raised in South River. They resided with their family in South River, Milltown, and Seaside Park.

Dad graduated from South River H.S., Rutgers University, the North American Insurance Company's School for Agents in Philadelphia, and the Graduate School of Savings Banks at Brown University. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran and award-winning marksman. After 20 years at the New Brunswick Savings Bank, where he was Vice-President, Secretary, and Chief Mortgage Officer, Dad semi-retired to Seaside Park where his family had vacationed since the Great Depression. Our father continued his passion for residential and commercial properties as a real estate agent, broker and appraiser.

Dad was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, and their spouses: Betty and Leon Chando, Carol and Robert Clark; six brothers and their spouses, J. Randolph III & Marie, Theodore & Audrey, C. Robert and Jeanette, Richard, Donald & Joan, and J. William; and brother-in-law George Blonsky. Our father is survived by his wife and our mother Carol-Anne, his sister Kathryn Blonsky, and sisters-in-law Margaret and Kathleen. Dad is also survived by his four children and their spouses: April Appleby, John DuBois Appleby Jr., Sue & David Lutes, and Charles & Emily Appleby; grandchildren Thomas, Lauren and her husband Chris Weber, Will, Johnny, Zachary, Marie, Charles, and Zoe; great-grandchildren: Madison, MacKenzie, Isaac, and Sean. Our father was proud of his extended family, which consists of over 100 beloved nieces and nephews.

"They say the measure of a man is not what he gained, but what he gave." Our father remains paramount. Dad will always be remembered for his unwavering love and devotion.
