Brick - John Francis Maguire, age 77, of Brick Township passed away at Community Medical Center on Friday, January 26, 2018. John was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY to the late Sylvester and Grace Maguire. John lived in Bronx, NY and relocated to Ramsey and then to Brick in 1997. He was a graduate of La Salle Academy in NYC and St. Francis College in Brooklyn, where he earned a BS degree in Mathematics. He had a long career at Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in NYC and attained his MBA in Operations Research from Baruch College during that time. During his leisure time, John enjoyed rooting for the Brooklyn Dodgers and later the New York Mets as well as following horse racing. He did a lot of genealogy research and loved to read mystery novels and science magazines. He also loved to tend to the garden around the house.

John is preceded in death by his brother Donald J. Maguire and by his sister Elizabeth A. Clifford. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Veronica Maguire and by his children, Kathleen Maguire of Coral Gables, FL, Michael Maguire and his wife Marisa Ranire-Maguire of Garden City, NY, Peter Maguire of New Haven, CT, and William Maguire of Brick, NJ. John is also survived by his grandchildren, Hunter Liam Maguire and Taylor Paige Maguire and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends for Visitation on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88 Brick, NJ 08724. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 10:00 am Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at St. Dominic's RC Church, Brick, NJ. Followed by the interment at Ocean County Memorial Park in Toms River, NJ.
