John Jeremiah Nortz Obituary
John Jeremiah Nortz

AGE: 68 • Petaluma

John Jeremiah Nortz died peacefully in his home early Friday morning, August 25th, at the age of 68. He was born in Loweville, NY, and was raised in Red Bank, NJ. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army (1966 - 1969). After serving, he received his degree in Political Science from Sonoma State University and fell in love with Sonoma County. For the next four decades he pursued a career in commercial fixtures, working tirelessly for his community and sacrificing for his family before eventually retiring from his company in 2015. A 34 year Petaluma resident, John was a proud husband, father, and grandfather, and is survived by his loving wife Andrea, son Andrew Nortz (Meredith), daughter Julia Hohne (Robert), and grandchildren Harper, Hayden, and Robert.

John remained committed to maintaining a strong relationship with his family who he loved dearly. He is also survived by four brothers; Rich Nortz (Nancy), Peter Nortz (Peggy), Hilary Nortz (Meg), and Chuck Nortz (Liz), and two sisters; Bonnie Talerico (Bob), and Patti Armstrong (Peter). Predeceased by his parents Richard and Evelyn, John recently joined his siblings, their children, and their grandchildren in a traditional celebration of the Nortz family as they reunited in Monterey, CA.

A long-time season ticket holder for the San Francisco Giants, he was a loyal Bay Area sports fan who embraced local teams with dedication and enthusiasm. He also enjoyed gardening, golf, photography, crafting stained glass, and ultimately valued time spent with family, especially being "Bapa" to his young grandchildren, above all else.

A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held 11 a.m. September 1, 2017, at Elim Lutheran Church, 504 Baker St, Petaluma, CA. Reception to be held at Hermann Sons Hall, 860 Western Ave, immediately following.
