John "Jim" Lane

AGE: 93 • Whiting

John "Jim" Lane, 93, of Whiting, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Crestwood Manor. Born in River Vale, NJ, he resided in Hightstown for many years before moving to Whiting in 2001. A WWII Army veteran, Jim graduated from Syracuse University, majoring in chemistry. Jim worked as a chemist for several companies including, Georgia Kaolin Clay Co. as a manager of the Paper Tech Service Lab of Titanium Pigment Corp (NL Industries) where he worked for 26 years and later SCM Corp in Baltimore. Jim was a member of TAPPI and the West Windsor Flying Club. He was a good man, underestimated by many, quiet, unassuming but smart and a solid human being.

Son of the late James and Ellen Lane, he was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Marion A. Lane (nee Tron). Jim is survived by his children and their spouses, Wesley J. and Mary Ellen Lane of Morrisville, Barbara L. and Roger Wood of Woodland Park and Diane E. Lane and her husband James Tugya of Merchantville; 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and one on the way and 4 nephews.

A visitation will be held 2-4pm with a funeral service to be held at 4pm on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 So. Main St. Allentown. Inurnment will be in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd Floor, Bethesda, Maryland 20814.
