Master Sergeant John M. Drascula II USMC, 44, removed his cover for the last time on 29 March 2017.

John was born in Toms River, New Jersey to John and Nancy Drascula on 19 July 1972. He graduated from Toms River North High School in 1991 before entering the United States Marine Corps in 1993. He served his country proudly for twenty-four years. During that time, he served in Somalia, Iraq, Africa and Afghanistan. He received the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy/Marine Commendation Medal with two gold stars, Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat Valor and two gold stars, Combat Action Ribbon (2) and Good Conduct Medal (Silver Star).

In 2003, he married the love of his life Kristeena Stroh. He loved his family and was a wonderful, loving husband, devoted father and a dedicated and respected leader of Marines. He brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. He had the biggest heart, tightest hugs, and a smile that would light up the room.

He is preceded by his father and mother, John and Nancy Drascula (deceased). He is survived by his wife Kristeena Drascula; children Chase and Staff Sergeant (USAF Retired) Tyler and wife Alexis and daughter Alyson Blair; sister Lisa Miserendino and husband Ross and their two children James and Gianna.

There will be a viewing at Cotten Funeral Home (2201 Neuse Blvd, New Bern, NC 28560) Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 6 - 8 p.m.. The funeral service will be Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the Cherry Point Chapel (100 E. St. Havelock, NC 28532) with Chaplain LCDR Brian Davenport officiating. The family will receive friends twenty minutes prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

Flowers may be sent to Cotten Funeral Home or 109 Quail Ridge Rd., Havelock, NC 28532. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.

Following the gravesite services family and close friends are welcome to pay their respects at 109 Quail Ridge Rd. Havelock NC 28532.
