AGE: 72 • Manasquan

John Stewart Sickles of Wall, NJ, and Palm Island, Placida FL departed this life on Tuesday, August 2, 2017. He was born to Dorothy and Harold Sickles on February 14, 1945 in Kearny, NJ.

John grew up in Hanover, NJ where he attended the public school system and graduated from Hanover Regional High School. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Finance and Marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University and graduated from the American Institute of Banking with high honors.

John joined in holy matrimony to Kathleen Lane on July 28, 1992. With this union came three sons.

In 1963, John became a pilot in the Naval Air Force.

John was employed at First National Iron Bank in Morristown, NJ, First Merchant in Manasquan NJ, and United Jersey Bank - Summit - Fleet which became Bank of America, where he was Sr. Vice President. After retiring from banking, John worked for M.R. Weiser in Edison, NJ where he held the position, Senior Manager for 9 years.

John had a love for planes and flew his whole life. He was a member of the NJ Aero Club.

In his spare time, John enjoyed restoring Corvettes, riding his motorcycle, boating on the Manasquan River as well as the Inland Water Way of FL, and golfing. He was a member of the Manasquan River Golf Club. John was a Free Mason and a member of Rotary Club of Brick, NJ where he held officer positions.

John was a Deacon at the 1st Presbyterian Church of Manasquan, NJ.

John was predeceased by his father, Harold Sickles; sister, Alison Sickles; and brothers, David Sickles, and Philip Sickles.

John leaves cherished fond memories to; his loving wife, Kathleen Lane Sickles; sons, John Sickles, Jr., Sean Riordan, and Alex Riordan; and granddaughter Akiana Delmanto (Stefanie). He is also survived by his mother, Dorothy, his sisters, Dorrianne O'Shea (Jose), Shelby Sickles Zemo (Paul); sister Shawn Sickles; special in laws, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the Church of Saint Uriel the Arch Angel, Philadelphia Blvd, Sea Girt, NJ with a Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 AM. In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to at www.michaeljfox.org
