AGE: 91 • Tinton Falls, formerly of Interlaken

Joseph A. Maldjian (Maj., USAF, Ret.), 91, of Tinton Falls, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017.

Mr. Maldjian was born and raised in Atlantic City. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, and during WWII, flew 30 missions over Germany as a ball turret gunner on a B-17 Bomber. He then embarked on a successful career in engineering and moved to Asbury Park, where he met his neighbor Rosemary, who quickly became the love of his life. They married and settled in Interlaken, where they raised their family. He worked for the Department of Defense at Fort Monmouth, retiring after 35 years of service. He enjoyed photography, stamp and coin collecting, and vacationing with his family, but above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Mr. Maldjian was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rosemary (nee Coppola), in 2007. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Bernadette and Glenn Davis of Wayside, Peter and Patty Maldjian of Brielle, Jeanette and John Keegan of Oakhurst, and John Maldjian of Rumson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashley and Shannon Fitzpatrick; Glenn Davis, Jr.; Kate, Maggie, Sean, Meghan, and Kevin Maldjian; Paige, Matthew and Taylor Keegan; and Kyle and Alex Maldjian. Also surviving are Mr. Maldjian's in-laws, Kay and Tony Coppola, and his nephew and nieces, Anthony Coppola, Marisa Procopio, and Amanda Proscia, as well as other relatives and friends.
