AGE: 89 • Brick

Josephine Marie Kirk, age 89, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Born and raised in Orange, Jo graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, Montclair, in 1944. This is where she met the love of her life, Thomas Kirk. They were married in 1948 and lived in Parlin/Sayreville until 1995. At that time, they retired and moved to Brick, where they would be closer to many of their children and grandchildren.

Jo was currently a Communicant of St. Dominic's RC Church in Brick. Previous to that Jo and her family were active members of St. Mary's Parish in South Amboy. Jo was a member of the Women's Club at Princeton Commons, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the President Park Fire House in Parlin. For many years, Jo was an Administrative Assistant at the Parlin YMCA, where she met many lifelong friends and made a positive, lasting impact on so many.

Jo is predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years, Thomas Kirk, and six of her seven siblings. Jo is survived by her six children; Maureen Sutter and her husband Henry of Manalapan, Carol Fabiyan and her husband Stephen of Point Pleasant, Kathryn Beno and her husband Gary of Point Pleasant Beach, MaryAnn McGuirk and her husband Paul of Colleyville Texas, Thomas Kirk and his wife Colleen of Chester Springs PA, and Patricia Ryan and her husband Thomas of Point Pleasant. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Jo is also survived by her sister Fran McKee of Livingston.

Please join us in celebrating the joyous life of Jo Kirk. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 1-5 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday, November 21st at 9:00 a.m. at St. Dominic's RC Church, Brick followed by the interment at the William C. Doyle Veteran's Cemetery, Wrightstown.

A special thanks is extended to the Cottage staff at Chelsea Assisted Living in Brick, the staff at Ocean Medical Rehabilitation, and the ER nurses at Ocean Medical Center.
