AGE: 93 • Whiting

June White Burdge, 93, of Whiting, passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 6th 2017 in Tualatin, Oregon. June was born in Grimsby, England on February 11, 1924. She was a war bride who married her husband T/Sargent Robert H. Burdge in 1944. June came to the U.S. after the war where she and Bob resided in Rockaway for 33 years. They moved to Forked River in 1978. After Bob passed away in 1987, June moved to Whiting.

June was an active member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church (Waretown) and thrift shop volunteer. She also volunteered at Crestwood Village IV assisting with payments and leading exercise classes. She was an Honor Role member of the Woman's Club of Lacey. A longtime member of the Cosmopolitan Association, a national organization for European war brides of WWII, June was past chapter president (Boonton), past national member of the year, and a current member of the Pines chapter.

June was especially loved by her family and friends for her keen wisdom and wonderful sense of humor. She always had a joke to share and loved to laugh and have fun. It was an honor to know this truly unique and wonderful lady.

She will be greatly missed by her loving children Carolynne Fairweather and her husband Roy Houston (Oregon), Robert Burdge (Colorado), Andrea and her husband Randy Smith (Texas), and David Burdge (Florida); grandchildren Alex, Michael, Lynn, Adam, Robbie, & Christopher and 4 great grandchildren. In England, her sister-in-law Pat White, niece Elizabeth and Barry Redburn, nephew Martin White, and nephew Nigel and Alison Gandolfi, and many great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service will be planned for the spring in Waretown NJ. Condolences may be sent to the family at: Andrea Smith, 6401 Tranquility Ct Arlington, TX 76016. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St Stephen's Episcopal Church 367 U.S. 9, Waretown, New Jersey 08758.
