Kathleen A. Arlt, 64, passed away on Good Friday, April 14th after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in Elizabeth, Kathy moved with her family to Morganville in 1960. Kathy was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Matawan, being baptized there on November 1, 1964. Kathy was a member of the first graduating class of Marlboro High School in 1970 and graduated from Valparaiso University in 1974. Kathy attended the University of Conn. at Storrs, CT. and then moved to New York City in 1976. While living in New York City, Kathy became involved in the theater and was the stage manager of the Broadway production of Nuts at the Biltmore Theater. Kathy was certified as a pari-legal, but after a year, decided to move on. Kathy worked as a proofreader at J. Walter Thompson before starting her own business " Straight Copy Composition. Kathy, along with other residents of her building in Tribeca, fought successfully to have the building become a co-op. These efforts took three years going all the way through city and state regulations. Kathy moved to Ocean Grove in 2005 and became a member of the Historical Society and the Homeowners Association. Kathy was concerned that Ocean Grove was losing its historical and victorian significance because of the many vacant and abandoned houses in Ocean Grove. Kathy was also a volunteer at the Eatontown S.P.C.A. and tutor for the Volunteers of Literacy of America. Kathy loved to travel cross country in her convertible visiting the National Parks and, especially little out of the way places. Kathy was a avid scrabble and trivia player.
