Kathleen Lynch Weeks Obituary
Kathleen Lynch Weeks

AGE: 91 •

Kathleen ("Kathy") L. Weeks, a resident of Sea Girt since 1968 beloved wife of the late Charles F. Weeks, died on May 24, 2017 at the age of 91. Kathy was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.

Kathy was born on November 5, 1925 and raised on a farm in Cranbury, New Jersey. Kathy attended Morristown High School graduating as valedictorian in 1943. After high school, Kathy traveled cross country by train to Las Vegas, Nevada where she married her husband of 51 years, First Lieutenant, Charles ("Charlie") F. Weeks.

Kathy and Charlie eventually relocated to Mt. Lakes, New Jersey where they raised three children and she worked as a columnist for the local newspaper. A voracious reader from an early age, Kathy enjoyed a 25 year career working at the Deal Library. She was loved by fellow employees and patrons alike. Inspired by the historical novels she read and her insatiable curiosity for the world around her, Kathy embarked on a lengthy travel odyssey in her 60s, 70s, and 80s. Her myriad travels abroad took her to China, where she walked the Great Wall; Russia, where she sailed the Volga from Moscow to St. Petersburg; Africa, where a hippopotamus grazed her tent on safari; India, where she rode an elephant and stayed in the former Maharaja's palace in Udaipur; and Nepal, where she flew over Mt. Everest. Kathy's travels brought her immeasurable joy even in her final days. Her thirst for knowledge and travel adventures provided many entertaining stories to her family and friends.

Kathy was the loving mother of three children, Richard Weeks of Spring Lake Heights, Douglas Weeks of Roanoke VA [deceased] and Kathleen Grimley of Underhill Center VT. She was the proud grandmother of Victoria Hyatt of Toms River, Charles Weeks of Roanoke VA. Nicholas Grimley of Burlington VT. Elizabeth Garcia of Tomkins Cove NY. Anna Hosey of Roanoke VA. Alexandra Robbins of Fox Point WI. and Laura Richards of Roanoke VA. She was also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.

Kathy's immediate family will be gathering privately to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sea Girt Public Library which was a source of many enjoyable books she has read over the years.
