Kenneth Samuel Hicks, Sr.

AGE: 72 • Wildwood, FL

Kenneth Samuel Hicks, Sr, age 72 passed away on Friday, Dec 16, 2016. He was the son of Charles & Flora Hicks, brother to Charles Jr. and Evelyn. He leaves his wife and soulmate, Nina (Sulenka) of 41 years and his children; Kim, Kenneth Jr, Tammy, Ryan and seven wonderful grandchildren.

He received degrees from Tulane University and the University of Alabama and retired after a career with Travelers Insurance Co.

He faithfully served his country in the US Army as a 1st Lt of the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam conflict and performed duties as a Sniper, while completing three tours-of-duty. Upon completion of his military service, he received an Honorable Discharge and was awarded a Vietnam Service Medal w/ 3 Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Soldiers Heroism Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Overseas Service Medal, Master Parachutist Badge, Jungle Expert and achieved Expert Ranking in Rifle, Pistol, Carbine, Rifle (Bayonet), Grenade, Machine Gun and Mortar, Laos Government Medal, Laotian Freedom Fighters Heroism Medal and a Master in several Martial Arts. He continued his dedicated military service as a government agent, well into his adult life.

He was a former Mayor and Township Committeeman in Lakewood NJ, President & lifetime member of the The Lakewood Blackhawks and The Elks, member of the American Legion, The Moose, The Eagles, Patriot Riders, member and Chaplain of the AmVets and Vice Commander of the Continental Veterans Club.

He was a high school basketball, track star and point guard at Tulane. He continued his love for sports throughout his retirement as a player, manager and umpire on championship softball teams at Continental Country Club.

His passionate and positive outlook of life will forever be remembered by the many dear friends and family of this great man.
