Kerry Dillon

AGE: 58 • Middletown

Kerry Dillon (Stuart, Florida) age 58, passed away suddenly on June 12, 2017. Kerry grew up in Middletown, NJ and graduated from Middletown High School in 1976. He earned A.S. and B.S. degrees from the Florida Institute of Technology. He was an instructor at FIT as well.

Kerry's passion was the ocean, especially artificial reefs in Florida. He was instrumental in the success of Martin County's and St. Lucie County's artificial reef programs. An artificial reef named in his honor will be deployed later this summer.

Kerry's company, Sea Rover Services, specialized in the design, construction, and monitoring of artificial reefs and provided diving support for research projects for many organizations, including NOAA, Florida DEP, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and Florida Oceanographic Society. Through his diving career, Kerry traveled to most of the United States and to several foreign countries, including Japan, Cuba, and Costa Rica.

He is survived by Ximena Dillon; their children, Lucas and Isabella; parents Tom and Ellen Dillon; brothers Dennis (Beverly) and Larry (Michelle); sister Jeannine Flanagan (Michael); and many nephews and nieces.

Friends and family are invited for an informal afternoon of reminiscing and honoring Kerry at the Squan Beach Life Saving Station, 124 Ocean Avenue, Manasquan on Saturday, July 29, between 430 and 6 pm. Bring your "Kerry stories" to share!

For those who wish, contributions can be made in Kerry's name to the Squan Beach Life Saving Station Preservation Committee (P.O. Box 45, Manasquan, NJ 08736) or to MCAC Artificial Reef Fund (http://www.mcacreefs.org/p/14/donate.)
