Linda Lee Madsen Roberts Obituary
Linda Lee Madsen Roberts

AGE: 70 • Ocean Grove

Linda Lee Madsen Roberts, 70, of Ocean Grove passed on to her heavenly home on Sunday July 2, 2017 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.  Born in Miami, Florida she lived in New York City before moving to Ocean Grove 40 years ago.  Linda was a graduate of St. Luke's Episcopal School in Greenwich Village, Mt. Vernon High School, Mt. Vernon, NY and Stratford College in Hobart. VA.  Linda previously worked at Eclipse Mattress in New York City as an assistant to the manager, and for the IBM Corporation in Iselin as an account administrator. She was last employed by the Asbury Park Press in the advertising department, when she retired. Since 1971 Linda assisted with the management of the family rental properties in Ocean Grove, only recently taking sole responsibility of those duties.  Linda met weekly with the Bradley Beach Writer's Group, an activity she enjoyed immensely with a group of people she cherished her time with.  Linda's love of life overflowed in many ways.  She was a lover of horses, at one-time riding and jumping during her college years, and she continued to enjoy riding when she would visit Central Park in NYC.  She had a passion for traveling, and has visited countries throughout Europe.  Linda enjoyed Broadway shows, and was a collector of the recordings from those shows.  An avid reader, Linda had a large library containing books on many of her favorite subjects and personalities.  In her spare time, Linda dabbled in painting - and she even attempted personal portraits.  Most of all, Linda loved people, and it showed in her many close friends that could be found, both locally and around the country.  Her positive outlook on everything and everyone was unshakeable.  Linda had a gift of knowing the right words to say that could comfort anyone, or turn a bad situation around.  She brought love and laughter to everyone she met, whether family, friend or stranger.  Linda was predeceased by her grandparents, Byron S. and Hattie Madsen and William Alexander and Bertha Bartels Moffat. Surviving are her mother Gloria Moffat of Long Branch, her companion, Lee Lampron of Ocean Grove, her cousins, William and Sharon Wenzel of Browns Mills, Claire and Thomas Algerio of Pahrump, NV, many other cousins in Omaha, NB and Virginia Beach, VA, many friends all over the country and her dogs, Rocket, JJ and Ling Ling.  Relatives and friends may call on Sunday from 1:00 - 3:00 and 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 80 Embury Avenue, Ocean Grove with interment following at Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Deborah Hospital Foundation at for pulmonary medicine would be appreciated.
