AGE: 95 • West Long Branch

Louis N. Vinci, age 95 of West Long Branch, died peacefully on January 1, 2017 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, he had lived in West Long Branch for 60 years. Lou had worked for the Borough of West Long Branch in the Public Workers Department for 18 years before retiring in 1987. He served his country honorably in the US Army during WWII, a parishioner of St. Jerome R.C. Church in West Long Branch and an avid Yankee fan.

Lou was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor Vinci; his daughter, Stella Vinci; and his 4 sisters, Helen Gettis, Nancy Ottaviano, Theresa Durso and Sadie Fioretti. Surviving are his brother, Salvatore Vinci of Florida; many loving nieces and nephews; his caregiver, George and his special friend and neighbor, Lois.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5 from 3-7 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave. (corner of Third Ave.) in Long Branch. Funeral, Friday, 9:30 am from the funeral home with a 10:30 am Mass at St. Jerome R.C. Church in West Long Branch. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to Barnabas Health Hospice and Palliative Care Center at MMC, 95 Old Short Hills Rd., 1st Floor, West Orange, NJ 07052.
