Lydia Y. Tiedemann, 95, of Middletown, NJ passed away on August 8, 2017 at the Regency Park Nursing Center in Hazlet, NJ.

Lydia Tiedemann was born Lydia Crescenzi in Brooklyn, NY on June 2, 1922. She was raised for a short time in Plainfield, NJ, but predominately in Tampa, FL relocating there with her family when she was a young child. She returned to NJ after meeting her husband who was a Jockey racing horses in FL. She married Thomas A. Tiedemann in 1943 and remained married for forty years until his untimely death in 1983. She had two children, Julia-Ann Miller currently of Holmdel, NJ and Thomas Tiedemann, currently of Boise, ID. Lydia and her husband raised their family in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ and later lived in North Arlington and Kearny, NJ. After the death of her husband, she moved to Middletown, NJ where she lived for the better part of the rest of her life. Lydia had several professions throughout her life. She worked as a Thoroughbred Horse Trainer for a number of years and, together with her husband, owned several Race horses. She was very gifted with her hands and even worked as a mechanic for the Ford Motor Company assembling carburetors in Lyndhurst, NJ during the 1970's and 1980's in a time when this was extremely rare; if not completely unheard of. She was also an exceptionally talented seamstress and did alterations to earn extra money later in life. Lydia also made and donated hundreds of knitted hats and blankets for needy children and disabled veterans and was the subject of a newspaper article in the 1990's which detailed her charitable efforts. Lydia was incredibly vivacious, healthy, independent and was able to live under her own care until as recently as six months ago.

Lydia is survived by her Daughter Julia-Ann Miller and Son-in-law Michael T. Miller, both of Holmdel, NJ; her Son Thomas Tiedemann, of Boise, Idaho; her Grandchildren Todd A. Miller and his wife Maria, both of Millstone Township, NJ; Daren S.
