AGE: 91 • Shark River Hills, Neptune

Mae A. Lukowitz, 91, of Shark River Hills, Neptune, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017.

Mrs. Lukowitz was born and raised in Newark, and lived in Irvington, before moving to Shark River Hills in 1958. For the last 18 months Mae resided at Holiday Care Center, Toms River. She worked as a secretary at Camp Evans and Fort Monmouth for many years, before retiring. She was active at the Neptune Senior Center for many years, where she wrote the newsletter and played bingo. She enjoyed cross-stitching and crocheting, and her family looked forward to her Christmas rugelach.

Mrs. Lukowitz was predeceased by her beloved husband, John J. Lukowitz, in 1977. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Edward Nosek, Frances Machalaba, and Olga Steeber. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Arlene and John Johnson, of Allentown, NJ, Carol Gorto, of Toms River, and John and Cheryl Lukowitz, of Brick. She is also survived by her grandchildren and their spouses, Heather and David Stout, Beth Anne Johnson and Jason Rudolph, Farah and Douglas Muraglia, Matthew Gorto, and John Lukowitz. Also surviving are Mae's great-grandchildren, Jane and Tatum Stout, with whom she was very close and loved being their Nana, and Mason, Luke and Aiden Muraglia, as well as other relatives and friends.

Visitation will take place at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Innocents Church, Neptune, on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at 10 AM, followed by burial at St. Catharine's Cemetery, Sea Girt. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Lukowitz may be made to Shark River Hills Fire Company, 200 Brighton Avenue, Neptune, NJ 07753, or to Holy Innocents Church, 3455 W.
