AGE: 93 • formerly of West Orange, NJ and Boynton Beach, FL

Margaret Johanna Vreeland formerly of West Orange, NJ and Boynton Beach FL passed away peacefully on January 2, 2017 at Shorrock Gardens in Brick, NJ, at the age of 93. Margaret was born in Orange, NJ on April 4, 1923 to John E. and Mary Walsh Peer. She was predeceased in 2012 by her husband of 70 years Kenneth W Vreeland. Margaret is survived by her five daughters Sharon and Ed Fix, Judith and Chris Anderson, Linda and Bill Leib, Laurie and George Koulousias and Joanne and Fernando Chipelo, as well as 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Peer Bell of Bradenton, FL Margaret was predeceased by her parents John E. and Mary Peer and her grandson Christopher A. Anderson Jr.

Margaret was a long time member of Pleasantdale Presbyterian Church in West Orange NJ and then the First Presbyterian Church of Boynton Beach Fl. She was a dedicated church member serving as church secretary, a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher, a Circle Leader, a member of Presbyterian Women and an enthusiastic member of the church choir during her years at Pleasantdale Presbyterian Church. She continued to be involved in Presbyterian Women and the church choir during the years she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Boynton Beach, FL. Margaret also devoted many years as an active member of the PTA, serving in various capacities including as Vice President and President over the years her children were attending West Orange Public Schools. In addition she served as a Girl Scout leader. When she wasn't serving in a leadership capacity, Margaret was an active volunteer in the various activities her children were involved in. She was a long time employee of Burrelle's Press Clipping Service in Livingston NJ, finishing her business career at Bell Labs in Whippany, NJ.

A memorial service will be held at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River NJ on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm with visitation beginning at 12:00. Margaret's cremains will be interred with her late husband's at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family would like to suggest a donation to in Margaret's memory.
