Margaret "Mickey" M. Sullivan Kurtz

AGE: 94 • Spring Lake

Mrs. Margaret Mary "Mickey" Sullivan Kurtz ,94, beloved wife of the late George Kurtz Ill, entered into rest December 16, 2016 at her residence in Spring Lake, N.J. A native of South Amboy, N.J., Mickey was born on December 14, 1922 and lived there before moving to Spring Lake 40 years ago. She was an elementary school teacher at St. Mary's, South Amboy, NJ; St. Ambrose, Old Bridge, NJ; and St. Catharine's, Spring Lake, NJ.

With over 40 years of service to teaching and her students, Mickey enjoyed in sharing many delightful stories of those she taught. Her positive attitude and ever winning smile would light up a room and her surroundings. Mickey's faith and family were everything. She loved to sit and read with a good book. Mickey was very proud of her Irish heritage and her Irish eyes were always smiling.

Surviving Mickey are her two daughters: Kathy Cunningham (Bob) of Harlem, GA; Peggy Gontkof (John) of Spring Lake Heights, NJ: two sons: George Kurtz IV, New Gretna, NJ and Phil Kurtz (Jane) of South Amboy, NJ. She also leaves her thirteen grandchildren, fifteen greatgrandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Her sister, Kathleen Wetzel lives in Vero Beach, FL.

Mickey was preceded in death by her husband George Kurtz Ill on May 23, 1966 and her daughter Mary A. Kurtz, August 29, 2016. Her parents were Timothy F. Sullivan and Nellie Gallagher Sullivan.

Special thank you to all the kind care givers who assisted in Mickey's care.

In celebration of Mickey's life, her large loving family would like to invite everyone to attend the Funeral Mass on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catharine's RC Church, 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake. Committal will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Saint Catharine's School, Spring Lake, NJ, or a . O'Brien Funeral Home, Wall, is in charge of arrangements.
