AGE: 84 • Point Pleasant

Margaret Mary (Moira) Rooney, nee Lynch, 84, of Point Pleasant passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ. Born in Airdrie, Scotland, Moira emigrated to the United States in 1953 and lived in Kearny, NJ prior to moving to the Point Pleasant area in 1963. She worked as a secretary for several local doctors including Dr. Stolte, Dr. Marlys and Dr. Kellner. Moira was an active parishioner at St. Peter's RC Church in Point Pleasant Beach where she served as a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound and was a member of the Holy Rosary Society. She also enjoyed assisting voters at the polls during elections.

Moira was predeceased by her first husband William P. Healy in 1979 and her second husband James Rooney in 1993. She was also predeceased by her parents Thomas Lynch and Helen Lynch, nee McGraith, and her siblings Anne, Thomas, Peter, Sarah, Helen, Hugh and Joseph. Moira is survived by her son William Healy and his wife Anne of Brick, NJ; her daughter Laura Santo and her husband Philip of Jersey City; her sister Bernadette Farrell of Glasgow, Scotland; and her three grandchildren, Katherine and Emily Healy and William Santo; and many nephews and nieces in the US and abroad.

Viewing hours will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, 812 Arnold Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach. A funeral mass will be offered on Friday at 10 AM at St. Peter's RC Church, Point Pleasant Beach. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
