Maria Mackay Obituary
Maria Mackay

Simsbury, CT - Maria Mackay, 93 years old, of Simsbury, CT died peacefully surrounded by her family on April 3, 2018. Maria was born in Hungary in 1925 and came to the US at age 7 years. She was married to Kenneth for 60 years until his death in 2008. She has 2 daughters, Sandi Mackay of Manahawkin NJ and Linda Mackay-Morgan of Simsbury, CT. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Tony, 2 grandsons, Christian and Damian and step-grandson, Eric. Prior to moving to Simsbury in 2016 to live with her daughter, Maria retired and lived in Manchester, NJ for 20 years. Prior to her retirement, Maria and Ken raised their family in Pearl River, NY for 45 years. She worked in Lederle Laboratories where she met the love of her life, Kenny. She also worked at Orangetown Town Hall and was Deputy Town Clerk. She proudly held the role of Town Historian and in 1992 was instrumental in establishing the first Orangetown Historical Museum. Maria always said her greatest accomplishment and joy was raising her two daughters. That joy culminated with the addition of her grandsons. Maria had a wonderful heart and never said a disparaging word about anyone. She believed in the power of family and was the matriarch that kept family members together and in contact many years. She will be dearly missed by her daughters, grandsons, and close family and friends.

Calling hours are at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River, NY on Friday, April 13 from 6-8pm and Saturday, April 14 at 10:00am with a remembrance service followed by burial at Frederick Loescher Veteran's Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY.
