Marie Dean, 89, of Brick passed away on Monday surrounded by her family. Born in Newark on April 24, 1927, Marie raised her family in Bloomfield, where she lived all of her life before moving to Brick in 2002. In addition to raising a family, she supported her husband Lenny and worked for Lionel Trains as a Goodwill Ambassador at train shows around the country.

Marie was an avid Yankees fan, loved to knit and crochet - especially baby blankets for the family's newest arrivals, and was famous for her marble pound cake. She never met an ice cream sundae she didn't love. Marie had a contagious laugh that would bring a sense of joy to those around her.

A devoted and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother she is survived by her family, son Leonard Dean Jr. and wife Maryann, grandchildren Kara, Jaclyn and Nick Varanelli, Andrea, Michael and Stephanie and Corey Cannon; son Philip and wife Debra, grandchildren Raeann and Ray MacVicker and Philip Jr and Amy Dean; daughter, Linda and husband Gary; son Richard and wife Kelly, grandchildren, Richard Jr., Brianna, Nicholas and Olivia. In addition, Marie was blessed with 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leonard Dean Sr; one sister, and three brothers. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation on Tuesday, April 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Weatherhead Young Funeral Home, 885 Mantoloking Road, Brick, (732) 920-1811, www.weatherheadyoung.com. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Church of the Visitation, Brick. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Toms River.
