Marion Viola Cuprys Obituary
Marion Viola Cuprys

Long Branch

Marion Viola Cuprys, "Cuppy," passed away peacefully at Monmouth Care Center in Long Branch on January 9 at the age of 89. Cuppy was born in Williamstown, New Jersey and entered the Army shortly after graduating from high school. She achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and worked as an Operating Room Specialist. During her tenure in the Army, Cuppy received the Army Commendation Medal (ARCOM), the National Defense Service Medal (NDSM) with OLC and the Army of Occupation Medal (AOM).

Cuppy had a passion for the outdoors, nature and animals. Combining her love of nature and photography, she was often seen taking pictures of various birds and learning more about new species. She was also very handy and enjoyed building and fixing things around her home. She loved the ocean and trips to the beach during summer visits with her family, Jean, Stephanie and Jessica. During her life, she rescued many dogs and brought them into her home with her beloved friend, Mary Vanek, who passed away five days after Cuppy.

Cuppy is survived by her loving family, Stephanie Delese and her husband, Ron (Freeland, PA), Jessica Iben (Newark, DE), John Iben (Freeland, PA), and sisters Bernadine Cuprys (Palm Desert, CA), Florence Okupinski (Long Branch, NJ) and Jean Armstrong (Glendale CA), as well as many cousins and friends.

A funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish (Freeland, PA). A private interment will follow the Mass. All are welcome to attend the funeral Mass and celebrate Cuppy's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724 or donate online at www.monmouthcountyspca.org.
