AGE: 99 • Shrewsbury

Mary A. Tomaine, age 99 of Shrewsbury, on February 9, 2017 the Tomaine family lost their Auntie. She was born in 1917 to Anthony and Josephine (Chick) Tomaine in Long Branch. She graduated from Long Branch High School and went on to be a well-known beautician in the Deal area. Mary was the owner of Mary's Beauty Salon on Norwood Avenue in Deal from many years. She lived in Long Branch and Oceanport and most recently Brandywine Assisted Living in Shrewsbury.

Mary was a loving and giving person who was known by everyone as Auntie. She is predeceased by her parents, four brothers, Joseph, Philip, Merrick and Andrew Tomaine; her two sisters-in-law, Mary B. Tomaine and Vivian Giranda Tomaine; her great nephews, Anthony, Jr. and Joseph Tomaine and her companion of over thirty years, John Ford. Surviving are her two sisters-in-law, Elsie Tomaine and Emily Dowd Tomaine; two nephews, Anthony (Squash) Tomaine (Dolores) and Philip Tomaine; nine nieces, Phyllis Tomaine Tuells, Vivian Penta (Anthony), Barbara Tomaine Cavanagh (Thomas), Andrea Whitesell (Greg), Joanne Valence (Dave), Carol Tomaine, Mary Bridget Mara, Jennifer Leuin (Harvey) and Kathleen Tomaine Foderao (T.J.).

Mary's family would like to thank Brandywine Assisted Living for the care and compassion she received over the last nine years.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 12 from 2 - 5 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave. (corner of Third Ave.,) in Long Branch. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 13 at 10 am at Holy Trinity Church in Long Branch followed by the interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, West Long Branch.
