Mary Ellen Hudson

Toms River - Mary Ellen (nee Hennessey) Hudson of Toms River, New Jersey passed away on December 8, 2017 after a brief illness. She was a lifelong resident of Toms River, NJ and a proud member of the Toms River High School class of 1946.

Mary Ellen was predeceased by her husband, William Hudson, parents George Franklin Hennessey and Agnes (Engelke) Hennessey, sister Carolyn Garthwaite and brother Franklin Hennessey. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Michael Hudson, Toms River, NJ, Nancy Aaberg (Robert), Marysville, CA., Carol Harrison (Peter), Beachwood, NJ and Thomas Hudson (Lori) Toms River, NJ. She is also survived by her grandchildren Travis Hudson, Carly Hudson, and Garrett Hudson all of Toms River, NJ, Kevin Aaberg (Mary) Santa Ana, CA and Kristen Mathews (Gregory), Marysville, CA and six great grandchildren.

Mary Ellen was employed as a school business administrator for the Toms River Board of Education before retiring in 1990 after 25 years. She was the past president of the Community Medical Center Auxiliary, the Ocean County Association of School Business Officials, and Suburban Club. Mary Ellen was a former Trustee of the Community Medical Center, a Commissioner to the Toms River Township Historic Preservation Commission, Chairperson of the Toms River Schools Centennial Celebration Committee, Member of the Toms River Schools Student Loan Fund Committee, Trustee of the Ocean County Historical Society and was inducted into the Toms River Regional Schools Hall of Fame.

In addition to her community service, Mary Ellen was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Toms River where she served as an Elder, Clerk of Session, and member of the Sanctuary Choir. She also served as a Commissioner to the Presbytery of Monmouth.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 12, 2017 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River, NJ. A funeral service will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Presbyterian Church of Toms River Church Music Fund or Music Endowment Fund, Ocean County Historical Society, or a .
