Mary Louise Fitzsimmons Obituary
Mary Louise Fitzsimmons

AGE: 88 • Avon by the Sea

Mary Louise Fitzsimmons, 88, of Avon by the Sea, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4th.

Louise shared her deep Catholic faith by example and prayer. Daily mass, devotions, stories of the saints, novenas and the daily recitation of the Holy Rosary and Chaplet were an integral part of her life. She brought joy, patience, tolerance and love to everyone she spoke with, caring more about how they were doing, particularly for those less fortunate, than any concerns that she may have been dealing with. She was a very forgiving person, active in the pro-life movement through prayer and action and generous to all. Louise was a parishioner and daily communicant at The Church of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary in Avon where she was also member of the Altar Rosary Society and a Eucharistic Minister.

Born in New York City and raised in Teaneck, NJ; she attended night school and graduated from Fordham University while working as a secretary at American Express. She married John A. Fitzsimmons of Roselle, NJ and they raised their family in Holmdel, NJ. Prior to retiring and moving to Avon in 1999, she was employed as an Executive Assistant at Bayshore Community Hospital and was an active parishioner at St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church in Holmdel.

Louise was predeceased by her husband, John A. Fitzsimmons, her daughter Elizabeth M. Fitzsimmons, her brother J. Peter Daniells and parents, Edward George and Mary Frances Daniells. She is survived by her son John and wife Gina of Alexandria, VA; her daughter Frances Rooney and husband Charles of Avon; her son Charles and wife Kathleen of LaPlata, MD; and her daughter Joanne Sjostedt and husband David of Bellevue, NE. She also leaves her grandchildren: Jennifer Logan and husband David; Juliette and Joseph Fitzsimons; Annie, Emily, Mary, Charley and Tommy Rooney; Patrick, Zachary and Kaitlyn Fitzsimmons; and Daniel, Laura, Natalie, Annika and Gabrielle Sjostedt as well as her great granddaughter, Annabelle Logan.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 9th from 4 to 8 pm at the Reilly Bonner Funeral Home, 801 D Street, Belmar NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 am at The Church of St. Elizabeth of Hungary , 424 Lincoln Ave., Avon by the Sea, NJ. Committal will follow at Saint Gabrielle's Cemetery, Marlboro NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Avon First Aid Squad, PO Box 3, Avon NJ 07717, would be greatly appreciated.
