Mary Patricia Belvins Mcfadden

Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach - On Memorial Day, May 29, Mary Patricia "Patty" Blevins McFadden joined her husband, Charles A. McFadden, in peace where, no doubt, they are already loudly debating the merits of some hot political issue.

Patty is predeceased by her parents G.W. and Mary Blevins, and her sister, Virginia Manz of Kentucky. Patty was the loving mother of six children, five living to adulthood. She was, as they are: headstrong, soft on the inside but tough on the outside. Having moved around the country with all the children in tow as her husband followed his dream, she was fiercely loyal to each of them and a strong believer in her Catholic vows. It is only on reflection, that her five surviving children have come to respect the sacrifice Patty made for the sake of her husband and kids.

She is survived by five children and their spouses: Martin and his wife, Cynthia of Virginia; Patrick and his wife, Sheila of Pennsylvania, Kimberly and her husband, Michael Guadagno of New Jersey, Tracy, and her husband Alphonse Mazzaggati of Pennsylvania, and Michael and his wife Amanda of North Carolina. She has 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was a proud godmother to Dr. Cameron McCoy, son of Holly and Glen McCoy of North Carolina. She loved every one of them in her own way and we have no doubt she and Chuck will continue to marvel at what their love story of 55 years has produced.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel. Services are private and a contribution in lieu of flowers to any pediatric aids program would be what Patty would have wanted. A special thanks from the family for the years of service to both Chuck and Patty by Karen Sylvester who stood by them both to the very end. Online condolences may be made to the family at
