Mary S. (nee Theander), 96, of Manchester, NJ, passed away on November 19, 2016. Born in Oslo, Norway, Mrs. Hoeft came to the United States when she was three years old settling in Johnson's Crossing, Washington. She resided in Clifton for most of her life before moving to Manchester six years ago. Before her retirement, Mrs. Hoeft was employed with the Clifton Board of Education in the cafeteria at both Clifton High School and Woodrow Wilson Middle School. Mrs. Hoeft was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clifton where she had been a member of the choir. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Hoeft, Jr. in 1991; her son-in-law, John Seng and her brother, Henry Theander. Survivors include: two daughters, Lorraine Vant Slot and her husband Lowell of Fair Lawn and Terry Seng of Manchester, NJ; one son, Richard Hoeft, III and his wife Carol of The Villages, FL; two sisters, Valerie Sabetta of Winona, NJ and Terry Scott of Kansas; two grandchildren, Laura Prout and her husband John and David Vant Slot and his wife Susan; and five great-grandchildren, Megan, Matthew and Michael Vant Slot and Julia and Johnny Prout. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11:00 am at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Interment to follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. Visiting will be held Tuesday from 3 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517 or VNA Hospice, 176 Riverside Ave., Red bank, NJ 07701.
