Michael E. Snyder Obituary
Michael E. Snyder

Manchester - Michael E. Snyder took his final journey to follow the fish on December 31, 2017 after a valiant battle with cancer.

Born to Raymond and Anna Snyder in Jersey City, New Jersey, Mike was raised in Iselin and moved to Manchester 40 years ago with his wife, Beverly, to raise their family.

Mike followed in his father's footsteps in service to his country. He served as a radioman in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Mike had the heart of an adventurer and leaves his family wrapped warmly in memories to comfort them. Many happy hours were spent by or on the water fishing with his beloved brother John and buddy Richie, among other family and friends. He could just as easily pass the time scuba diving, boating, canoeing, traveling, or getting lost in a good book.

To his soul he was a good Samaritan, always extending a helping hand to those in need through words and action. He never passed a stranded motorist without stopping to help, hoping that the recipients of his good deeds would pay it forward. Mike believed that you could, sometimes even before you dreamed it was possible. His "MacGuyver-like" skills preceded him, as he was known to his family and friends as the man who could fix anything.

Mike was a journeyman lithographer, worked in the IT field, and most recently was a maintenance supervisor for The Manor at CentraState Healthcare System. He is also a member of the American Legion, Post 0129 and the VFW, Post 10061.

Mike was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first. He is celebrated and will be sorely missed by his wife of 45 years, Beverly, daughters Jennifer Bryceland and Michelle Bauman, and grandchildren Andrew Bauman, Alexander Bauman and Olivia Alfisi. He is predeceased by his parents Raymond and Anna Snyder and is survived by his brother and best friend John and wife Patricia, sisters Barbara Caffrey, Sonja Jensen and husband Albert, and Carol Hamlin and husband Edward, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

His visitation will take place on Sunday, January 7 from 2:00 - 6:00 PM at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home at 703 Main St, Toms River, NJ 08753. A service will be offered at St. John's Church in Lakehurst, NJ at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 8. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in Mike's memory to CentraState Healthcare System for the Oncology Unit or the National Park Foundation.
