MICHAEL R. BARKER
AGE: 57 JACKSON
Michael R. Barker, 57, of Jackson, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at his residence in Jackson. He was president of MacB Enterprise Solutions Inc., Eatontown, working with the Dept. of Defense and defense contracting industry for over 35 years. He was a member of the Battleground Country Club, Manalapan, and coached football and wrestling for Red Bank Catholic High School, Shore Regional High School, and Holmdel High School. He was an avid golfer, softball and flag football player; played football and baseball at Glassboro State College, and was offered a try-out with the Cincinnati Reds Baseball Team. He was a member of the Association of U.S. Army; and member of the Armed Forces Communication & Electronics Association. Born in Long Branch, he was raised in West Long Branch and resided in Ocean Township before moving to Jackson in 2001.
He was predeceased by his father, Raymond Barker; and a brother, Joseph Barker. Surviving are his wife, Kathryn Rau Barker; his mother, Maureen Barker of West Long Branch; two brothers, Raymond and wife Betsey Barker of Jackson, and Brian and wife Deborah Barker of Ocean Township; two sisters, Barbara and husband Michael Perri of Brick, and Phyllis Barker of Ocean Township; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 at Posten's Funeral Home, 59 E. Lincoln Ave. at Central Avenue, Atlantic Highlands. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2 from Our Lady of Perpetual Help R.C. Church, Highlands. Interment will be in Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fisher House Foundation, 11 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, MD 20805.
