Morton Sternin Obituary
Morton Sternin

AGE: 92 • Formerly of Manchester

Mort Sternin lived a wonderful life. Born in Brooklyn New York, he met the love of his life, Florence, before he went overseas in World War II. There he served in the Army infantry and as translator in France for the military, hiring back hundreds of hotel workers in the town of Biarritz after the war. He married his sweetheart, Florence, when he returned and they were happily married for 67 years. Mort began his career in leather goods manufacturing. He worked himself up to become president of companies and traveled throughout Asia for work and pleasure, with his wife Florence. Mort served on the Manchester school board for seven years and ran for mayor when he was 80 years old. After Florence died in 2013, he moved to be near his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in Castro Valley, CA. There Mort excelled once again, serving as President of the Baywood Court Residents Council. He charmed everyone there with his newly discovered love of singing in the chorus and at various events.

Mort was deeply caring about his family and community, and he will be missed by all for his kindness, humor and leadership. As Mort said, he will now "be with his beloved Florence".

Mort leaves behind his son Miles (Diane), daughter Lesley (Melanie), grandchildren Josh, Robby, Sarah (Scott), Seth (Nikki) Hannah (John) and Grace, (Ryan) and great grandchildren, Lucas, Lana, Emory, Justice, Rowan, Ellie, Michael, Gavin, Carter, Olivia, Clinton (deceased).
