AGE: 68 • Point Pleasant

Nicholas A. Scarpello, Jr., age 68 of Point Pleasant died on Saturday, 12/17/2016 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. He was born and raised in Newark and moved to Point Pleasant in 1973. He was employed as an Electrician for many years with Weinberg Electrical Contracting in Linden. He attended St. Martha's RC Church in Point Pleasant. He was a former member of the Point Pleasant Planning Board, Environmental Commission & Exempt Site Plan Committee, a Senior Member and Past Vice President of the Point Pleasant Republican Club, an Ocean County GOP Committeeman for District 12 in Point Pleasant, an active member of the Ocean County Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police and Director and Manager of the Whispering Winds Equestrian Center in Howell. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Ann and Nicholas Scarpello, Sr., his brothers, John Armitage, Tommy Armitage and his wife, Alice and Ernie Armitage and his wife, Marie. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Phyllis (Forte) Scarpello; his sister, Sissy Shebunchak and her husband, Roman; his sister-in-law's, Betty Armitage, Marie Cook and her husband, Don and Vicky Forte; nephews, Paul, Jason, Daniel, John, Christopher, Steven, Robert and Jason; nieces, Lydia, Amy and Maureen; and grand nephews and nieces, Kyle, Caitie, Sarah, Mika, Mia, Ava, Nancy, Andrew, Daniel, Samantha, Christopher, John, Basheer, Owen, Casey and Carly. He will surely be missed greatly by all his family and friends. Friends may call on Tuesday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Colonial Funeral Home - 2170 Hwy. 88 Brick, NJ. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lakewood.
