AGE: 90 • Belmar

Noreen (Earley) McGreevy, 90, of Belmar, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 21, 2017 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

Noreen was born July 19, 1926 to the late Maryanne and Michael Earley in Drumshanbo, County Leitrim, Ireland and was raised in Ballinamore, County Leitrim. As a young woman, she moved to the United States where she lived in Jersey City with her aunt and uncle, the late Catherine and Walter Purtell. She met John and was married in 1956 and raised her family. She was a parishioner of Saint Aedan's RC Church in Jersey City where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She was also a member of The Third Order of Saint Francis. Noreen worked as a crossing guard for the Jersey City Police Department from 1978 until 1994, when she retired and moved to Belmar. She was a parishioner of Saint Rose RC Church in Belmar. Most of all she was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and loved tending to her precious roses. Noreen was proud of her Irish heritage and was a member of the Women of Irish Heritage of the Jersey Shore.

Noreen is predeceased by her husband John McGreevy, her brothers, Peter Earley and Patrick Earley and her sister, Winifred Macy. She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Therese and Thomas Ebert of Toms River, Kathleen and Joseph Stamboni of Wall Twp., and Bernadette McGreevy of Jackson, her sisters, Mary Sullivan and Margaret Mulvaney, both of Rhode Island, and Philomena Kelleher of Jersey City, her brother, Mihal Earley of London, England, her grandchildren, Martin and his wife Theresa Ebert, Kevin Ebert, Patrick Ebert, Jaimee Ebert and Gianna DePinto, and her great-grandchildren, Rian, Samarra, Benjamin, Marilyn, Dallas and Willow, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Tuesday April 25, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm at the Reilly Bonner Funeral Home, 801 D Street Belmar NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday at 10:30AM at the Church of Saint Rose, Belmar. Committal will be held privately at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown NJ.
