AGE: 88 • Eatontown

Norma Guerci Hayes, 88, a lifelong Eatontown resident, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 with her family by her side. Norma was born in New York City to Pietro and Josephine Guerci. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, The Women's Club and was a longtime communicant of St. Dorothea's RC Church in Eatontown. Norma formerly worked for NJ Bell in Eatontown, leaving to raise her family. Later in life, she could be found working at various Monmouth County retailers. She loved working with people. She was an amazing and extraordinary woman who loved her family and her life of 88 years. She was a good friend to many and will be deeply missed. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Robert C. Hayes, the love of her life for 65 years and her brother, Carlo (Charlie) Guerci, all of Eatontown. Norma is survived by her two sons; Charles R. Hayes and wife Sally of Palm Coast, FL and Robert W. Hayes and wife Cathy of Oceanport. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Michael D. Hayes and wife Elisa of Flower Mound, TX and Carrie Yackel and husband Gregg of Palm Coast, FL, her great-grandchildren; Casey Garrett and Ethan, Gracie and Abigail Yackel, her sister-in-law, Kathy Guerci of Eatontown, nephew, Rick Guerci and wife Laura and family of Succasunna, nieces; Debbie Kohler, and husband Hal and family of Brick and Carolyn Valerio and husband Danny and family of Tinton Falls. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 27th from 4-8pm at the Braun Funeral Home, 106 Broad St., Eatontown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 28th 10am at St. Dorothea's RC Church, 240 Broad St., Eatontown, NJ 07724 with entombment following at Woodbine Cemetery Mausoleum, Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norma's memory to St. Dorothea's RC Church.
