Asheville - Norma Taylor Clark passed away at Asheville, NC on December 9, 2017 at the age of 91. The daughter of Paul Rollin Taylor and Edna Norma Gulbransen Taylor, Norma was born in Grand Haven, Michigan in 1925. She is predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Roosevelt L. (Roly) Clark Jr. and her son, Roosevelt L (Lee) Clark III .

She is also predeceased by her sisters Alice Taylor Thornycroft and Patricia Taylor Lane and her brother John Paul Taylor.

Norma graduated from Montclair High School and attended Middlebury College. After their marriage in 1946, Norma and Roly raised their family and a vast assortment of pets in Fanwood, NJ. During those years, she was a homemaker, Girl Scout leader and Planned Parenthood volunteer. In 1983 Norma and Roly retired to live in Loveladies on Long Beach Island, NJ where her life included community service, travel and saltwater activities. Norma volunteered at Southern Ocean County Hospital and served as chair of the Ocean County Library Foundation, leading the organization in a massive capital campaign that successfully expanded and renovated the Commission Headquarters and Toms River Branch.

Norma is lovingly remembered by her children, Linda Shelly and Pat Bastian; her grandchildren, Will and Julie Bastian, David and Jennifer Shelly and Gabriella, Amanda and Sean Clark; and great-grandchildren James and Ellen Shelly and Lucah Claus. Norma enjoyed life fully and embraced all aspects with gusto and determination. She was immensely proud of her family, close and extended. She will be missed and remembered by all.

Arrangements are being handled by Harwood Home for Funerals, Black Mountain, NC. Private services will be held.
