Patrick Gaynor Obituary
Patrick Gaynor

Middletown - Patrick Gaynor passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, Dec. 2nd.

A loving grandfather, father, husband, uncle, brother, and friend, Patrick joins his loving wife Patricia. They were married 57 years and raised 7 children: Patricia, Eileen, Bridget, Sean, Laura, Danny, and Donald. A strong, committed man, never lost sight of the importance of family, proud of his large extended family of nieces, nephews, and in-laws. And he was especially devoted to his grandaughters Meghan and Fiona.

Born in County Cavan, Ireland, Patrick emigrated to the US as a young man to become a naturalized citizen. He served in Korea as part of US Army Company "H" 27th Infantry Regiment. Civic minded he served his community, local government, and the Middletown Democrats.

He retired from the A&P after working as a butcher for 40+ years. During that time, he was a supportive and influential member of Local 464A.

A parishoner at St Ann's Parish, he was a man of strong faith. As a young alter boy he took the Pledge of the Pioneer; a vow of abstinence of which he remained true his entire life.

Patrick helped to found the Irish Federation of Monmouth County in an effort to share the pride and history of Irish Culture. He made many lifelong friends and loved them and the sense of community that it brought.

God Bless you, Paddy. You will be greatly missed!

Friends will be received Thursday 12/07/18 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Laurel Funeral Home 201 Laurel Avenue Hazlet, NJ 07734. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday 10am at St. Ann's Church in Keansburg, Interment 2pm at Brig. General William C Doyle Veterans Cemetery Wrightstown.
