AGE: 91 • Spring Lake & Ft. Myers, FL

Peter J. O'Day entered peacefully into eternal life on March 1, 2017 in the company of his loving family. Mr. O'Day is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-four years, Ellen. He is also survived by his children Patrice, Ellen, Erin, Colleen, Megan, Allison, Richard and Gavin, daughter-in-law Meaghan and sons-in-law Peter and Charles and his thirteen grandchildren who love their Papa and Grandpa dearly. He could fix anything with the exception of our broken hearts.

Mr. O'Day enlisted in the Navy at the age of seventeen and served in the Pacific during the Second World War. On the day of his high school graduation, he had already shipped out to Basic Training and his father had the honor of receiving the diploma on his son's behalf. In recognition of his service, Mr. O'Day was awarded the Asiatic Pacific and American Campaign Medals as well as the World War II Victory Medal and earned an Honorable Discharge.

A chemical and electrical engineer, Mr. O'Day had a long and distinguished career with the Bell System and Fort Monmouth. He was also a very talented musician.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mark's Catholic Church followed by entombment at St. Catharine Cemetery.
