Ralph J. Guadagno Obituary
Ralph J. Guadagno

Freehold - Ralph J. Guadagno, 82, passed away on Sept. 26th, 2017 in Northport, NY. He was born on April 11, 1935, to Angelo and Philomena (Monaco) Guadagno. He was raised in Jersey City along with his three sisters, Frances, Rose, and Joan, whom he adored.

Ralph is survived by Dianne, his wife of 55 years, his children Lisa, Ralph, and Nicole, and their spouses, Michael Carner, Christeen (Surgent), and Frank Stola. He is preceded in death by his sisters Frances and Rose and survived by their spouses, Joe Louro and Ed Boffa as well as his sister, Joan, and her spouse, Giacomo Silvestri.

Ralph was an accomplished athlete in many sports-most notably football & baseball-at both Lincoln High School, where he lettered in 5 sports, and at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Ralph entered the military prior to beginning his college career and served in the military police in Germany. Ralph was studying for a final in the library while attending Fairleigh Dickinson when he met the love of his life, Dianne Ceragioli. They married in August 1962 and later moved to Freehold, NJ, which would become their home for 50 years. Ralph began his career at Raritan High School, Hazlet, NJ, in 1964 as both a teacher and a football and basketball coach. He earned a master's degree from Seton Hall in 1969 and became Assistant Principal, then Principal. Ralph spent his years at Raritan fiercely dedicated to the students in his school and worked tirelessly on their behalf. His mission was setting his students on their best path. He touched many lives and earned the trust and respect of students, staff, and the community. Upon retirement, Ralph was able to return to his love of sports, this time as a fan. Ralph, together with Dianne, logged countless hours on the bleachers and fields cheering for their 9 grandchildren. It was one of his greatest joys. His legacy lives on in each one of them-Brandon, Olivia, and Rafe Carner, Devin, Drew, and Dean Guadagno, and Frank, Ben, and Rocco Stola.

Ralph was a completely devoted husband, father, and grandfather. The love and support he gave his family was unwavering. His positive outlook on life was irrepressible-he saw the good in everyone and everything. Ralph was loved by so many and will be missed beyond measure.

There will be a memorial mass at St. Roberts Bellarmine, Freehold, NJ on Saturday, June 16th at 11:00.

Donations can be made to Hazlet Twp Public Schools Attn: Guidance Dept. in reference to Ralph Guadagno Scholarship.
