AGE: 79 • Toms River

Renate Parsons, 79, of Toms River, NJ passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Toms River Community Hospital Hospice.

Renate lived a full life with her husband of 59 years, Robert. Renate was born in Weimer, Germany, escaping to West Germany when she was 15 years old with her family. Renate was one of six girls. She met her husband who was stationed in Germany and they married in 1958. They returned to the United States in 1960 and resided on Staten Island. Renate acclimated to life in the United States very easily by working in several different jobs with family members. In 1977 she took ownership of the Family Shoppe on Victory Blvd Staten Island, NY which she owned until 1990. In 1991, Renate and her husband moved to Florida where she continued her retail experience by working for Target for 18 years. In 2010 Renate and her husband moved back to Toms River, NJ. Renate always loved to volunteer and did so for many organizations, one that she was very proud to become a life time member is Deborah Hospital. She loved crocheting and crocheted many blankets for her family every year. She recently spent a month in Germany with her sisters, nieces and nephews. Renate touched many people in her life with her compassion and big heart. She put smiles on everyone she met.

Renate is survived by her husband Robert Parsons, one daughter Susan Olaschinez and son-in-law Bill (Billio) Olaschinez, grandson Robert Manning and daughter-law- Teresa Hernandez-Manning, granddaughter Pattie Ayala and three great-grandchildren Ariana, Mikey, and Mason, sisters, Barbara, Margret and Else who still reside in Germany.

A visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and on Tuesday 10am-11am at "The Family Owned" Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals 412 Main Street Toms River. A religious service will be held on Tuesday at 11am. Cremation will be private.
